Vrej Agajanian
Humble Beginnings
Vrej had a modest upbringing. He lived in a 120 square foot room with 7 family members. Due to their inability to make ends meet, Vrej had to work since the age of 8. He grew up in a rough working class world that had little sympathy and plenty of vicious cycles. Despite seeing many of the people around him fall prey to their vices, Vrej knew he had to chart a better course for himself.
Engineering Destiny
While other kids were punished for not studying enough, Vrej was punished for studying too much. He both worked and studied. He set his sights on a world renowned Engineering School, which only accepted 300 students out of 1,000,000 applicants. After receiving a top score on his entrance exam, he was admitted.
Being a professional engineer matched Vrej's problem solving and detail-oriented personality. He enjoyed being able to find unique solutions to complicated and seemingly impossible problems. With his California certification, Vrej would become employed by Syska Hennessy, America's largest Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Firm at the time.
Family Forever
Vrej was focused on his career for much of his life. He was also more of an introvert. No one expected him to get married to a super extroverted celebrity lawyer named Dina! In many ways, they were fire and water. But in the most important ways, they were foundation that allowed their family to grow.
They gave their children cultural names: Arno and Serine. They named one after Courage and the other after Love to remind themselves what a family is built on. They have four children in total: two humans and two shih tzus!
City's Call
The nation was in medical and financial crisis when the pandemic hit.
Vrej was unanimously selected by council to lead us through the turbulent period. He remained the only councilmember to keep an office open to the public even as city hall itself closed its doors.
Under his leadership, the city provided local pandemic relief to businesses, drastically expanded affordable housing, adopting more efficient technologies, expanded nutritional services to seniors, and kept Glendale safe despite the chaos and anarchy in Los Angeles.
Through his efforts, many businesses were saved and many tenants kept their homes. In a rare show of pandemic era unity, his achievements were praised by Democrat, Republican, progressive, conservative, and moderate councilmembers and leaders.

My mission is to create a Glendale that prioritizes safety, cleanliness, and community well-being. I believe that equality should meet opportunity for all residents, and I am dedicated to implementing policies that reflect this commitment. Together, we can build a sustainable future where everyone has a voice and a stake in our community.
